Vettisfossen is widely (and mistakenly) claimed to be the tallest waterfall in Norway. It may, however, possess the tallest sheer drop of any waterfall in Norway (we're not absolutely sure, Mardalsfossen may have a taller drop). During the winter, the falls have been known to freeze entirely, forming almost 1000 feet of vertical icicles. The falls were, at one time, referenced as M?rkfos. |
